INITIAL CONSULTATION
This is the first time you and your doula will meet. With a more detailed look at what’s offered, we will find the most ideal package for you and your family. It’s important to be certain it’s a good fit before making any commitments.
TWO PRENATAL HOME VISITS
The bond between you and your doula will grow stronger as this is the time to discuss your ideal birth experience. You and your doula will work together to create a birth preference sheet so everyone on your birth team knows what they can do to help you best. In these prenatal visits, you will also practice mental and physical relaxation as well as explore various labour positions and other comfort techniques that might be right for you.
37 WEEK SHOWCASE
This is the last meeting with your doula before your birth! We can test transportation options, tour the birth place (when applicable) or discuss any last minute details or questions. The showcase also provides for the perfect opportunity to envision and clarify what an ideal postpartum life looks like for your family. This visit should be around the 37th week of pregnancy at which your doula is on call 24/7 and ready to support you when labour starts.
CONTINUED SUPPORT THROUGHOUT LABOUR
When you go into labour, your doula will come to your home and provide continuous support. Using what was practiced in the prenatal visits, your doula will work alongside your partner and birth team to assist you. Once your baby is settled and the initial feeding has taken place your doula will leave allowing your new family to bond.
POST BIRTH VISIT
Your doula will come to your home within the first ten days to see how you are adjusting to the new life with your baby. At this time your doula will go over your birth story, relaying as much detail as you need. You’re also given a printed copy of your birth story so you can keep an accurate memory of such an important life event. After asking your doula any other personal or baby care questions you can arrange a date for extra postpartum care.
POSTPARTUM HOME SUPPORT
The first couple months after birth are so precious so proper time management is key to savouring the tender moments. This four hour visit will allow you to prioritize what you need to while still getting as much done as possible. Your doula is at your service to help with housekeeping. From deep cleaning to laundry, running errands or grocery shopping, your Golden Egg doula is there to support you. Your doula can also be a useful resource for individualized newborn support. This visit is unique in that it is completely adaptable to your family’s needs. Look into the Pearls Postpartum Kit to invest in this support more consistently over those first three months.
VIDEO SUPPORT SESSION
For when you need that little “Pick me up” from your doula, any questions you might have can be answered, to get that extra support you need or you can just have a chat and bond more with your doula. Much can be accomplished in this hour long visit!
